Joan Rossiter was born circa 1495. She was the daughter of Richard Rossiter and Elizabeth Perye. Joan Rossiter married William Hartgill on 12 May 1514 at Dorset, England. Joan Rossiter died on 20 July 1558.
Joan is the only known daughter. At her "inquisition post mortem" at Shaftsbury, Dorset County, it mentions land she received in Dorset following the death of her mother and father. In 1556, Charles Stourton murdered her husband William Hartgill and their son John. He was hanged several months later.
