     Levi Jackson Hughes was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Selma, Johnston Co, North Carolina.1 He was born on 21 September 1882 at North Carolina; His death certificate gives 20 Nov 1882, informant Troy Odell Hughes.2,3,4,5,1,6,7,8 He was the son of William Henry Hughes and Nancy A. Worley. Levi Jackson Hughes married Mary Moye, daughter of I. J. Moye, on 9 March 1904 at Johnston Co, North Carolina.8 Levi Jackson Hughes married Hepsy Delia Carter, daughter of John Edward Carter and Vincey Eleanor Carter, circa 1909 at Johnston Co, North Carolina; The 1910 census indicates they had married one year. Levi Jackson Hughes died on 10 August 1949 at Alexander Park, Norfolk, Virginia, at age 66;
     Levy J. Hughes, Selma - Levy J. Hughes, aged 65, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, while on a visit with his son, Troy Hughes, Portsmouth, Va. Funeral services will be held from the home in Selma Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Dr. William H. Carter of Goldsboro. Burial wiill be at Selma Cemetery.
     Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Albert Smith, Farmville; six sons, Troy and Alonzo Hughes, Portsmouth, VA., Rudolph Hughes, Goldsboro, Clifton Hughes, Fayetteville, Warren Hughes, Virginia Beach, Roland Hughes, Langley Field, Va., one brother, F.W. Hughes, Smithfield.9,1,6

Hughes, Levi's brother, 24.5 He appeared on the census of 13 February 1920 at Selma, Johnston Co, North Carolina; Levi J. Hughs, 36, Epsie, 39, Troy O, 11, Rudolph, 9, Alonzo B., 5, Clifton J., 3 yrs 2 mos, and Ruth M., 1 month.7 He appeared on the census of 24 April 1930 at Selma, Johnston Co, North Carolina; Levi Hughs, 45, Hepsy, 50, Troy, 20, Rudolph, 18, Alonzo, 15, Clifton, 13, Ruth M., 9, Roland, 8 and Warren, 6.3 He lived in 1935 at Selma, Johnston Co, North Carolina.4 He appeared on the census of 1940 at Selma, Johnston Co, North Carolina.4
