Salina C. Cloer

     Salina C. Cloer was born on 25 May 1855 at Iredell Co, North Carolina; The death certificate for Salina says she was born 5 May 1862, but she was listed in the 1860 census as age 5. She was also listed as 13 on the 1870 census and aged 45 in the 1900 census. Obviously she was more likely born 1855, than 1862.^1,2 She was the daughter of Roberson Cloer and Margret Lavina Byers. Salina C. Cloer married Irvin Lewis on 20 June 1878 at Iredell Co, North Carolina.³ Salina C. Cloer died on 24 June 1937 at Jonesboro, Washington Co, Tennessee, at age 82.² She was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Johnson City, Washington Co, Tennessee.²
     She and Irvin Lewis appeared on the census of 14 June 1900 at Johnson City, Washington Co, Tennessee; Irvin Lewis, 53, b. SC, wife Salina, 45, Elizabeth 16, Ella, 13, all b. NC; Rosy, 8 and Cora, 8, twins b. TN. They had been married since 1878 and Salina had borne seven children, with six still living.¹ Salina C. Cloer appeared on the census of 6 June 1920 in the household of James Elmer Jackson at Johnson City, Washington Co, Tennessee; Elmer Jackson, 38, Cora, 24, Frank, 8 , Lee, 6, Andrew, 4 2/12, Charlie, 9 [boarder] and Salina Louis, 64, mother-in-law.⁴ Salina C. Lewis appeared on the census of 1930 in the household of James Elmer Jackson at District 14, Washington Co, Tennessee; Elmer Jackson, 48, Cora, 38, Frank B., 18, Lee, 16, Andrew, 14, Mabel, 10, Mary, 8, Ruthie, 6, Roby, 2 3/12, and Salina Lewis, mother-in-law, 75.⁵
