Hugh Bigham was born on 27 October 1842 at Drumarkin, County Down, Ireland.1 He was the son of Andrew Bigham and Ann Stranaghan. Hugh Bigham was baptized on 1 November 1842 at 1st Rathfriland Presbyterian, Rathfriland, County Down, Ireland.1 He and an unknown person have also be reported to have been married 10 December 1872 Brighton, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts. He and an unknown person have also be reported to have been married 10 December 1872 Ashland, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts. He married Bridget O'Neill, daughter of Owen O'Neill and Mary (?), on 10 December 1872 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts; They were both of Brighton.
Hugh Bigham appeared on the census of 9 June 1880 at Salt Creek, Mason Co, Illinois; Hugh was a farm laborer and living in the house of John Peters, Jr, 40, Essie, 25 and their sons, James, 2 and John, 1. The Peter family was also from the Parish of Drumballyroney. Essie was a Stranaghan.2
