Esther Stranaghan

     Esther Stranaghan was born on 29 September 1852 at County Down, Ireland.¹ She was the daughter of Andrew Stranaghan and Agnes Cantley.² Esther Stranaghan married Herman John Peters, son of John Peters and Ann Bigham, on 1 November 1876 at Rathfriland, County Down, Ireland; They were both of Drumarkin. Agnes Jane Stranaghan was a witness.^1,3 Esther Stranaghan died on 29 December 1926 at Mason, Mason Co, Illinois, at age 74.² She was buried on 31 December 1926 at Mason City Cemetery, Mason, Mason Co, Illinois.^2,4
     She appeared on the census of 1900 at Sheridan, Logan Co, Illinois; Essie Peters, 47, widow, James P., 22, Agrora, 17, Andrew, 15, Adeline, 12, Florencej., 10, John L. and Essie, both 6, Lizzie F., 4, and Henry Bowen, 25 and Frederick Lynch, 20, both servants.⁵      Esther had applied for a passport to visit relatives and travel in 21 Jun 1924. The countries she listed were Ireland, England, France and Belgium and was going to sail on the Carmania on 5 Jul 1924.¹
