Sir Stephen Popham married Beatrice Bohun. Sir Stephen Popham was born circa 1393 at Carisbrooke, Hampshire, England.1 He was the son of Henry Popham and Joan Devonshire. Sir Stephen Popham died on 14 November 1444; He died intestate.1
"In 1442, Stephen proposed in Parliament for systematic patrols to deal with piracy, and shortly afterwards was chosen to serve as chief commander of a force of 565 men which policed the Channel. He was a shipowner, and one of his vessels, the Cokke William, was requisitioned in 1454 for the passage of Margaret of Anjou's entourage to Southampton."1
