Michael Philander Mandigo was born on 28 August 1819 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. He was the son of Jonathan Mandigo and Mary Vincent. Michael Philander Mandigo was baptized on 28 January 1840 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; St George's Anglican Church. He married Catherine Fadden, daughter of William C. Fadden and Jane M. Scott, on 18 January 1842 at Highgate, Franklin Co, Vermont.
