David Percy

     David Percy was born on 29 January 1799 at Swanton, Franklin Co, Vermont.¹ He married Margaret Salls, daughter of Jacob Salls and Rebecca (?), on 22 April 1841 at Dunham, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; David "Parcey" was a widow of Dunham.² David Percy died on 24 May 1873 at Sycamore, DeKalb Co, Illinois, at age 74.^3,4 He was buried at Genoa Cemetery, Genoa, DeKalb Co, Illinois; Stone says he was 74 yrs 3 mos and 25 days.⁵
     As of 22 April 1841, David Percy was also known as David Parcey. He appeared on the census of 9 June 1860 at Sycamore, Dekalb Co, Illinois; David Percy, 61, born VT, wife Margaret, 59, born Canada; D.W. , 26, born Canada, Harriett, 27, born Illinois, Caroline, 27, born Canada, and an unnamed male child, aged 6/12, born Illinois. Since D.W. and Caroline were born before 1841, it is assumed they were children of his first marriage.⁶ He appeared on the census of 20 June 1870 at Sycamore, Dekalb Co, Illinois; David Percey, 71, born VT, and Margaret, 68, born Canada East.⁴
