Hastings was born on 1 June 1722 at
Watertown, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts. He was the son of
Joseph Hastings and
Lydia Brown. Joseph Hastings married
Hannah Hastings, daughter of
John Hastings and
Sarah Fiske, on 10 July 1743 at
Waltham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts. Joseph Hastings died on 1 February 1805 at
Shrewsbury, Worcester Co, Massachusetts, at age 82. He was buried at
Mountainview Cemetery, Shrewsbury, Worcester Co, Massachusetts.
