     Samuel Durgin Welch was born on 22 May 1837 at Hinchenbrooke, Huntingdon Co, Quebec. He was the son of Samuel Durgin Welch and Elizabeth Wait. Samuel Durgin Welch died on 17 October 1922 at Zumbro Falls, Wabasha Co, Minnesota, at age 85.1
     The 1860 US Federal Census (and 1870) show that Samuel D. Welch was a resident of Gillford, Wabasha Co, Minnesota. He appeared on the census of 1880 at Hyde Park, Wabasha Co, Minnesota.2
