     William Rhodes was born circa 1827 at Birstal, Yorkshire, England.2 He married Mary Pearson, daughter of Joseph Pearson and Mary Dean, on 31 January 1852 at Hunslet, Yorkshire, England.1,3 William Rhodes died circa 1891 at Bramley, Yorkshire, England.
     He witnessed the marriage of William Scott and Margaret Ann Foyer Pearson on 9 October 1860 at Leeds, Yorkshire, England; William Scott was aged 21, and a model maker of Upper Wortley, Margaret was 18, of Armley.4,1 William Rhodes appeared on the census of 1881 at Armley, Yorkshire, England; William Rhodes, joiner, was aged 54, wife Mary, 49, son Frederick, an architect, aged 21. Joseph Pearson, his father-in-law, a widower, was living with them, aged 79.5
