These cannon, all brass were manufactured at the Confederate Arsenal, Columbus, Georgia in 1863-1864.

George M. P. Holt was born at St. Marks, Wakulla County, Florida, January 5th, 1845.
Enlisted in the Confederate Army at Newport, Florida, February 28th, 1863. Newport being my home at that time enlisted in Second Florida Calvary, Company D. George W. Scott, Captain.
Received my parole at Tallahassee, Florida, May 13th, 1865, by order of Gen. E. M. McCook, Commanding Officer, U. S. Forces, Tallahassee, Florida.

Note - To assist the Confederate Government in the manufacture of theses Brass Cannon, Churches and Public Buildings gave up their Brass Bells to be made into these Cannon for the Confederate Army.
