Gerald Kenneth Arrowsmith was born in January 1926 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.3 He was the son of Sylvester Scott Arrowsmith and Ella Maud Beyea.2 Gerald Kenneth Arrowsmith married Mary Josephine Theresa O'Brien on 2 November 1953 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1,4 Gerald Kenneth Arrowsmith died on 12 September 2012 at Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 86; It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of Gerald Kenneth “Jerry” Arrowsmith of Saint John, husband of the late Mary (O’Brien) Arrowsmith with whom he shared his life with for 55 years. Jerry passed away on September 12, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in his 87th year. Born in Saint John in January of 1926 he was the son of the late Sylvester Scott and Ella Maude (Beyea) Arrowsmith. Jerry graduated from Saint John High School Class of 1944. He served in Canada in the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps. Jerry was a lifetime member of Saint Mary’s Band after playing with them for 50 years as well as the 3 Fld Artillery Band for 40 years. He also played in the New Brunswick Symphony for 5 years. He was the owner and president of Saint John Spring Works Ltd. and worked for the business for 60 years. Jerry also held the position of President of Maritime Auto Radiator Works Ltd and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Pythias. Jerry also enjoyed gardening and his dahlias gave him great joy.
He is survived by two sons Gerald Arrowsmith Jr. (Chrissy) of Quispamsis, K Wayne Arrowsmith (Sonya) of Quispamsis; one daughter Brenda A. Murphy (Jim) of Chicago; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters Helen Callahan (Cal) of Saint John and Ethel Smart of Toronto; several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry was predeceased by a grandson Gregory Arrowsmith four brothers Bill, Joe, Carl and Ernie, and four sisters Lila, Blanche, Hazel and Eleanor.3 He was buried on 17 September 2012 at Fernhill Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.3
