     Frederick Derick was born in May 1787 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. He was the son of Philip Derick and Anna Maria Brust. Frederick Derick married Sarah Griggs on 26 January 1809 at Alburgh, Grand Isle Co, Vermont; They were both of Caldwell's Manor.1 Frederick Derick died on 22 September 1856 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec, at age 69.2,3 He was buried on 24 September 1856 at 3rd Concession Cemetery, Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.3,2
     He left a will on 11 September 1852; Frederick Derick had his Last Will drawn up by Pierre Gamelin at his house in Noyan. Following the payment of all just debts, all real and personal estate was to go to his "well beloved" wife, Sarah Griggs, for her lifetime. He also provided his two daughters, Matilda Jane Derick, wife of Joseph McLelland, of Sabrevois, and Caroline Mott Derick, wife of Carlton Carr, cabinet maker, then absent fom Quebec, all furnishings after Sarah's death. He left two sons, Henry Miller Derick and Frederick Uriah Derick, presently living with him the land and implements, following Sarah's death.The sons were to care for their sister Carolin Mott Derick Carr as long she was unprovided for. There were also payments to be made by the two brothers to their brothers, Truman Barber Derick, and Simon Zelotes Derick. Executors were to be his wife Sarah, Calvin Derick, his nephew, and Amos Hawley Vaughan, his friend.4
