     Samuel Strickland was born in 1692 at Isle of Wight, Virginia.1,2 He was the son of Samuel Strickland Sr. Samuel Strickland married Mary Davis before 1738 at Bertie Co, North Carolina. Samuel Strickland died in 1784 at Johnston Co, North Carolina.1,2,3 His estate was probated in 1784 at Johnston Co, North Carolina.3
     He left a will on 16 February 1784 at Johnston Co, North Carolina; Samuel left his "dearly beloved wife" one bedstead bed and furniture for her lifetime, and after her death it was to go to his son, Davis. He gave son Steven all his clothes, "dearly beloved daughter Abigail Worley" 20 Shillings. He left his son Josiah's children one Shilling sterling each (Josiah, Hester and Eady?). Son Benjamin received 20 Shillings. Son Davis received the plantation and all land, except 100 acres that went to son Uriah. Davis also received all livestock, a grindstone, gun, and all the brandy and cider, tools, a feather bed, some pots, pewter, loom, wooling wheel, and shears. His daughter, Mary, was gifted a bedstead bed and furniture, and one linen wheel. Son Jeremiah received 20 Shillings.
His wife Mary was to live on the plantation and be taken care of by son Davis, until the end of her widowhood or death.4
