     Matthew Strickland married Elizabeth (?) Matthew Strickland was born circa 1648 at England.2 He died circa 1696 at Isle of Wight County, Virginia; The date of 5 May 1696 shows in some docs, but I have not found a source.2,1
     Mathew is first noted as of Virginia in a land patent on 26 Sep 1678. This involved 902 acres located over 30 miles from the James River in Isle of Wight Countyon the main swamp of Kingsale at Beaver Dam Branch. On 20 Apr 1680, he patented another 1,803 acres. With over 2700 acres of land, that made him one of the largest landowners in the county.
In spite of this no real profession has been found. He is mentioned in one document as a tailor.3
