Gerard immigrated ca 1632 to Cambridge, Massachusetts, with his older brothers, William, Thomas and Michael. They settled first in Cambridge, but Michael and Gerard moved to Lynn about 1637. Gerard was made a freeman 9 Mar 1636/7.
Later, in June 1656, he was an Ensign of Militia at Lynn, Massachusetts.
About the year 1660, Gerard Spencer moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where his brothers Thomas and William had settled. Two years later, hr removed to Haddam, Connecticut.3 He left a will on 17 September 1683 at Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; He distributed his substantial estate amongst his children, and made provision for grandchildren as well.2
