     Mary Melissa Tryon was born on 12 August 1821 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 She was the daughter of Timothy Tryon and Mary M. Longeway. Mary Melissa Tryon was baptized on 24 September 1837 at St Armand, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 She married Thomas Hagen on 20 October 1850 at Highgate, Franklin Co, Vermont; Married by Rev. Z.H. Brown, at Highgate. Both parties were of Highgate, as well.3 Mary Melissa Tryon died on 18 February 1902 at Franklin Co, Vermont, at age 80.4
     She appeared on the census of 1 June 1880 at Highgate, Franklin Co, Vermont; Mary M. Hagen, 57, widowed, with her son Owen A. Hagen, 19.5 She appeared on the census of 16 June 1900 at Highgate, Franklin Co, Vermont; Mary M. Hagen, aged 78, widowed, had come to the United States in 1830. The census indicated she had only one child and that one was living. But we do know she had a son Thomas who lived only one month in 1856.6
