     Benjamin Wait was born on 5 January 1745 at Exeter, Washington Co, Rhode Island. He was the son of Samuel Wait and Sarah Greene. Benjamin Wait married Amey Bull on 5 April 1770 at New Britain, Columbia Co, New York.1 Benjamin Wait died circa 1812 at Haldimand, Northumberland Co, Ontario; The year 1812 was the last census in which he appeared in Haldimand. His estate was probated on 20 November 1813 at Northumberland Co, Ontario.
     Benjamin Wait was listed with his brothers, Jonathan and George Wait, as residing within Kings District in 1779. In 1781, he was listed at New Britain when his nephew, Gardiner Wait (son of Samuel Wait IV) served as a substitute for him in the Revolution. He left New Britain before 1790.
By 17 Jun 1797, he was a settler in Haldimand Township. He had received Lot 10. His sons, Jenckes, and Isaac, had received Lot 9. Benjamin's brother, George, was on Lot 12. The lots were the same in August 1797 as well.2 He left a will on 6 October 1812 at Northumberland Co, Ontario; In his will, Benjamin left land and personal property to his wife, Sarah, and youngest sons, Daniel, Sisson and Benjamin. Son Isaac, and his daughter Lucy's husband were executors. Daughter Deborah's son, Barrett Dyer, was a witness.
