Daniel Tryon Longeway

     Daniel Tryon Longeway was born on 21 October 1823 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. He was the son of Nicholas Longeway and Hannah Rowe. Daniel Tryon Longeway was baptized on 25 January 1824 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ He married Anne Rogers. Daniel Tryon Longeway died on 23 March 1901 at Sonora, Tuolumne Co, California, at age 77; Daniel was a well known farmer near Confidence, California. His obituary mentioned he was born in Vermont, but "came to California early in the exciting days of placer mining. For a number of years he was a resident of Sonora, being the owner of the water-works, which he personally superintended. After disposing of his interests he removed to Dry Creek, in Stanislaus county, and invested in farming land. In a few years, he became discontented and longed for a home amid the hills of Tuolomne, and he came back, locating near Confidence upon a ranch and where he resided with his family until the end."^2,3 He was buried at Old City Cemetery, Sonora, Tuolumne Co, California.²
