Thomas Prence

     Thomas Prence was born in 1599/0 at Lechdale, Gloucestershire, England.¹ He was the son of Thomas Prence and Elizabeth Todlerby. Thomas Prence married Patience Brewster, daughter of William Brewster and Mary (?), on 5 August 1624 at Plymouth, Plymouth Co, Massachusetts.¹ Thomas Prence married Mary Collier on 1 April 1635 at Plymouth, Plymouth Co, Massachusetts.¹ Thomas Prence married Apphia Quick between 1644 and 1662; The children given as hers may very well belong to Mary Collier.¹ Thomas Prence married Mary (?) circa 1667 at Massachusetts.¹ Thomas Prence died on 29 March 1673 at Plymouth, Plymouth Co, Massachusetts; Inventory taken of his effects after death included a long list of books, including two Bibles and "100 of psalm books". This was taken on 23 Apr 1673 and totalled £422 10 s. 7d. Real estate was not included in this total.¹ He was buried on 8 April 1673 at Burial Hill, Plymouth, Plymouth Co, Massachusetts.¹
     Thomas Prence came to New England in the "Fortune" in 1621. He was chosen to be Governor of Plymouth in 1635 and held that office for more than 16 years.¹
