Henry Salls was born circa 1805 at Quebec; The Salls book indicates he was born in Massachusetts. This writer can not see how that is even possible.1 He was the son of Isaac Salls and Elizabeth Crawford. Henry Salls married Lydia Branch, daughter of Wheeler Branch, on 19 September 1824 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 Henry Salls died before 1860 at Westport, Essex Co, New York.3
In a document passed before Leon LaLanne, dated 12 Jun 1823, Isaac Salls gives land to "beloved" Henry Salls: Lot 6 in the 5th Range or Concession of Noyan. It definitely mentions that Henry was son of his wife, the deceased Betsy Crawford. Henry signed his name, and his father, Isaac Salls, made his mark.
Henry's wife Lydia was living alone with her seven children for the 1865 census of Westport, Essex County, New York.4
