     Jacob Derick was born on 2 August 1784 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. He was the son of Philip Derick and Anna Maria Brust. Jacob Derick married Candace Patterson, daughter of Danforth Patterson and Chloe Smith, on 2 May 1816 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 Jacob Derick died on 18 June 1875 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec, at age 90; Jacob is listed as a Sgt. of the War of 1812.2,3 He was buried on 20 June 1875 at St Thomas' Cemetery, Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2
     He witnessed the burial of Chloe Smith on 7 April 1836 at Missisquoi Co, Quebec; It is likely that Chloe was also buried in the Anglican cemetery, but there was no stone ever transcribed.4 Jacob Derick appeared on the census of 1861 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; Jacob Derick, 76, Candace, 64, Jane, 28, Nelson, 30, all Church of England. Minerva, 27, W. Methodist, housekeeper. The family was listed next to Nauman Derick, their son's. No way to tell if they lived in the same household most likey they did.5
