William Merrick was born circa 1603.2 He was the son of Rev. John Merrick.1 William Merrick married Rebecca Tracy, daughter of Stephen Tracy and Tryphosa Lee, circa 1642 at Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.3 William Merrick died in 1688 at Eastham, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.2 His estate was probated on 6 March 1688/89 at Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.3
According to Colket's book "Founders of Early American Families", William Merrick came to America on the "James" in 1636. He was of Charlestown 1636, Plymouth 1636, Duxbury 1648, and of Eastham by 1655. There was also a James Merrick, born about 1612, who arrived aboard the "James". He was of Charlestown 1636, Newbury 1657. He was a fish packer and a cooper, and had died by 1708. At this time, no relation is proven, although it is likely they were brothers. He left a will on 3 December 1686 at Eastham, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.3
