Hiram Barzilla Covey

     Hiram Barzilla Covey was born on 2 August 1847 at Franklin Centre, Huntingdon Co, Quebec.¹ He was the son of John Young Covey and Roxana Hunter. Hiram Barzilla Covey was baptized on 1 May 1855 at Russelltown, Huntingdon Co, Quebec, by Rev. Richard Wilson; Witnesses: F.G. Wilson, C.A. Jones.² He married Corintha Eleanor Taylor at Crown Point, Essex Co, New York.³ Hiram Barzilla Covey was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire.⁴ He died on 21 January 1938 at Nashua, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire, at age 90.⁵
     He appeared on the census of 26 August 1870 at Schroon, Essex Co, New York; Hiram Covey, 23, Corintha, 21, and Leander, 1/12.⁶ He appeared on the census of 23 June 1880 at Schroon Lake, Essex Co, New York; Hiram Covey, 40, Lorady, 35, Leander, 10, Annette, 8, Charles, 5 and Susan, 1, all born NY. This writer would have to pose the question: Where was Jennie Minnie if she was their daughter?⁷ He lived in 1890 at Swanton, Franklin Co, Vermont. He appeared on the census of 15 June 1900 at Dunstable, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Hiram B. Covey, 52 (Aug 1847), Corintha E., 51 (May 1849), William H., 15 (Feb 1885), and Hiram B., 9 (Dec 1890). Hiram and Corintha had been married 31 years, nine children, five living.⁸ He appeared on the census of 15 January 1920 at Nashua, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire; Hiram Covey, 75, came to the US in 1860, and wife Corintha, 70.⁹ He appeared on the census of 2 April 1930 at Nashua, Hillsborough Co, New Hampshire; Hiram B. Covey, 85, widower, b. Canada, was living with his son, William H.. Covey and his family. He listed his father as b. Canada and mother b. VT.¹⁰
