Uriah Covey was born circa 1853 at Vermont.1 He was the son of Stephen Covey and Eliza Jane Partlow. Uriah Covey died on 1 September 1876 at Alburgh Springs, Grand Isle Co, Vermont; Uriah and his brother, Charles, were riding the train home when Uriah was struck by wood out a window in a passing train. He was seriously injured in the accident near North Sheldon, Vermont, and taken to the Basswood House. Earlier papers reported he had been taken to his mother's house in Alburgh Springs.2
In 1870, Uriah was residing with Benjamin Brown, wf Catherine, and family in Alburgh, Vermont. He was then aged 17 and a farm laborer.1
