Joseph L. Covey was born on 7 December 1859 at Clinton Co, New York.1,2,3 He was the son of James Covey and Cornelia Burzee. Joseph L. Covey was baptized on 2 September 1860 at Russelltown Methodist Church, Russelltown, Huntingdon Co, Quebec, by Rev. William Richardson; Witnesses: George Simpson, Jonathan Priest, Jr.4 He married Jennie Pratt on 29 April 1883 at Wisconsin.1
Joseph was in Warren County, New York with his parents until he was twelve. In June 1885, he was logging on the Black and Poplar Rivers of Wisconsin. He was a resident in Greenwood, Clark Co, Wisconsin.1
