Solomon Dyer was born on 6 March 1744/45 at Truro, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Solomon Dyer and Sarah Atkins. Solomon Dyer was baptized on 2 March 1746 at Truro, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts. He married Isabella Eldridge, daughter of Timothy Eldredge and Hannah Dyer, on 24 October 1770 at Truro, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.2 Solomon Dyer died circa 1776 at Canada; He was killed from the bursting of a cannon during a salute following a skirmish.3
Sometime in 1775, Solomon was supposedly asked to enlist in the army by his uncle, Captain Naylor Hatch, of Malden. He served for a time in the coastal area, south of Boston, then was in Canada with General Schuyler's Company. It was with soon after that he was killed at or near Plattsburg, New York by the bursting of a gun or field piece during a salute following a skirmish. His clothes were sent home to his widow, Isabella.
