     William Oxley was born on 16 May 1839 at Nova Scotia.1 He married Frances Anne Howard, daughter of John Howard Jr and Rachel Campbell Kerr, on 21 June 1865 at American House; William Oxley was of Wallace, Nova Scotia, and Frances was the youngest daughter of John Howard, Esq. of St Martins.2
     William Oxley appeared on the census of 1881 at River Philip, Cumberland Co, Nova Scotia; William Oxly, 48, Frances, 47, May, 15, Charles, 14, Matilda, 13, Frances, 11, and William, 8, all born Nova Scotia and Methodist. William Sr was listed as a manufacturer.3 He appeared on the census of 1901 at Oxford, Cumberland Co, Nova Scotia; Wm Oxley, 61, Frances A., 60, Charles W., 33, William, 25, and Don D., 16.4
