Joseph Williams Beynon was born in August 1837 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1 He was the son of Joseph Williams Beynon and Mary Matthews. Joseph Williams Beynon married Eudora Bosworth Pettis, daughter of Avery Pettis, on 7 January 1864 at Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island.2 Joseph Williams Beynon died on 31 July 1918 at Cranston, Providence Co, Rhode Island, at age 80; Joseph was 80 years old and had been a resident of the "State Hospital of Mental Diseases". He was a contractor and died of Senile Psychosis; Arteriosclerosis.3,4 He was buried on 3 August 1918 at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island; He was buried in Group 50 Lot 9.5
On 8 Sep 1862, Joseph Beynon, signed his name at the Providence Old Stone Bank. He had indicated he was from Saint John, NB, and boardered at 1 Fulton Street, Providence.6 He appeared on the census of 8 June 1880 at 68 Dean Street, Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island; Joseph W. Beynon was aged 40, and wife Eudora was 38. He was a contractor builder. He listed his parents as both born New York.7 He appeared on the census of 16 April 1910 at 486 Friendship Street, East Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island; Joseph Beynon was aged 71, born Canada, married 46 years to Eudora, aged 68. It was her 2nd marriage. Joseph said his father's birthplace was unknown, and his mother's birthplace was "Scot-English". He was unsure what year he had come to the States, but was naturalized. Ada A. Puffer, his sister-in-law, aged 58 and a widow was living with them.8
