Richard Howard was born on 13 March 1760 at Dutchess Co, New York.1 He was the son of Edward Howard Jr and Phoebe Hart. Richard Howard married Margaret Holloway circa 1786.2 Richard Howard died on 8 January 1815 at Dover, Dutchess Co, New York, at age 54.
Found within Dutchess County Ancient Documents 1721-1862 is a bastardy case involvng Richard. A doc was filed 15 May 1781 at Poughkeepsie. Richard was to pay 200 pounds and appear at the next Court of Common "concerning a bastard child begotten by him on the body of Phebe Mosher single woman. Said bastard child when born is likely to be chargeable to the Precinct and the receive and abide what the court shall adjoin on him the said Richard Howard concerning said child then the above Recognizance to be void or otherwise to remain in full force and virtue."3
