Nicholas Hart was born circa 1610 at England. He married Joane Rossiter, daughter of Edward Rossiter and ? Combe.1
Nicholas Hart may be the son of Richard Hart of London, England. His name first appears in the records of Taunton in 1642, when he was excommunicated. The following year in Boston, he was mentioned at the excommunication of Sarah, wife of Benjamin Keayne, and the daughter of Thomas Dudley. In 1643 he was a soldier in William Poole's Company of Continentals. Nicholas Hart also appears in 1648 at Warwick, Rhode Island. An excommunitcation of Mrs Sarah Keayne on Oct 24, 1647 implicated Nicholas Hart. "Our sister Mrs Sarah" (sometimes the wife of Mr Benjamin Keayne but who Devorsed from Him) having beene formerly Admonished by the Church of her Irregular prophecying in mixt Assemblies, and refusing ordinarily to heare in the Churches of Christ, and not Answering the Church therein, but falling into odious, lewd, and scandalous uncleane behaviour with one Nicholas Hart an Excommunicate person of Taunton, was by our pastor, in the Name of the Lord Jesus, with the Consent of the Church by their silence, and with the Power of the Lord Jesus, Excommunicated out of the Church." Very interteresting as divorce was quite rare at that time.2
