William Dyer

     William Dyer was born on 7 March 1662/63 at Boston, Suffolk Co, Massachusetts. He was the son of Samuel Dyer. William Dyer married Mary Taylor, daughter of Henry Taylor and Lydia Hatch, in December 1686.¹ William Dyer died on 27 July 1738 at Truro, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts, at age 75; While his gravestone indicates he died about 85 years old, this is never a good indicator of birthdate.^2,3 He was buried at Truro Old North Cemetery, Truro, Barnstable Co, Massachusetts.^2,3
     William Dyer removed from Barnstable, Massachusetts soon after the birth of his children, to live in Truro. One author says that Dr. Dyer "had a knack of keeping in hot water with his neighbors, and...had a spice in his temper, known by the name of perserverance in good cause, and obstinancy in a bad one."³
