William Bennett died 1780's at Gloucester, Essex Co, Massachusetts; Gloucester records say William died "at sea on a wreck". This must be the brother who died at sea with Jonathan as mentioned by granddaughter Martha Squires Cox in 1906.1 He was born on 23 February 1753 at Gloucester, Essex Co, Massachusetts. He was the son of Jonathan Bennett and Martha Parsons. William Bennett married Lucy Rust on 17 September 1777 at Gloucester, Essex Co, Massachusetts.2
