Nehemiah Marble Wood was born on 22 May 1762 at Falmouth, Hants Co, Nova Scotia.1 He was the son of Nehemiah Wood and Elizabeth Hovey. Nehemiah Marble Wood was baptized on 11 March 1792 at Maugerville, Sunbury Co, New Brunswick; Daniel, John and Nehemiah were all baptised as adults by Rev. John Beardsley.2 He married Rebecca Rawlins. Nehemiah Marble Wood died in 1813 at Nova Scotia; It is difficult to say what might have killed both Nehemiah and his wife in 1813. The birth of Enoch dated 1814 must be in error. Rebecca had died by Oct 1813, possibly by the birth of Enoch.3 His estate was probated on 5 October 1813 at Windsor, Hants Co, Nova Scotia; In the Inventory of Real and Personal estate, it is noted that Ephraim Wood was given 35£ for "keeping the infant 7 years". William Wood was paid 45£ 10s for "keeping the family for eleven months". The estate was settled 4 Sep 1820 at Rawdon.3,4
Nehemiah Marble Wood was also known as Marble Wood.
Marble Wood is listed on the poll tax roll for 1792 and 1793 at Falmouth, Hants County. Marble had seven children , one of whom was James Andrew who migrated to Perthshire, Scotland.
He was granted a tavern license in Oct 1808, and in April 1811 he was Surveyor of Highways for the township of Windsor.5,3
Nehemiah Marble Wood left a will on 17 June 1813 at Hants Co, Nova Scotia; Marble Wood of the township of Rawdon, Hants County, NS, being "sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory..." does will and bequeath unto his dearly beloved wife Rebecca all my estate real and personal...for her support and his beloved children: William, Eliza, John, Mary Anne, Nelson, James Andrew, and Enoch. He wills to his beloved son William, "so soon as he comes of age", 100 acres of land to be laid off for him on that side of his farm (that he now lives on) next and adjoining John McLelan, a pr of 3 year old steers, 1 cow and sheep. To Eliza and Mary Anne, 50£ currency six months after they marry; To John and Nelson 12 sheep. To wife Rebecca all household belongings, and after her decease, all remaining estate to four sons - John, Nelson James Andrew and Enoch as soon as the youngest comes of age. If Rebecca should remarry, then each of the four sons gets £50 as soon as each comes of age, and as soon as Rebecca deceases, the remaining estate to be split four ways. He ordains his wife Rebecca, William Smith of Rawdon and John McLelan of Rawdon as executors.
