Joseph Cox was born on 19 December 1798 at Kings Co, Nova Scotia.¹ He was the son of Thomas Cox and Elizabeth Williams. Joseph Cox married Mary Bigelow, daughter of Ebenezer Bigelow and Nancy Ann Rand, on 5 March 1828 at Cornwallis, Kings Co, Nova Scotia.¹ Joseph Cox died on 14 June 1862 at Kingsport, Kings Co, Nova Scotia, at age 63.² He was buried at Habitant Cemetery, Kingsport, Kings Co, Nova Scotia.²
