     King Edward III was born on 13 November 1312 at Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He was the son of King Edward II and Isabelle (?) King Edward III married Philippa d'Avesnes, daughter of Guillaume d'Avesnes III and Jeanne de Valois, on 24 January 1327 at York Minster, York, Yorkshire, Yorkshire, England. King Edward III died on 21 June 1377 at Shene Palace, Surrey, England, at age 64.
     Edward III was only 14 years old when crowned King. He appeared to be an able soldier and inspiring leader. He created the Order of the Garter in 1348. he had several successes during the Hundred Years War, but these were basically reversed by the 1375 Treaty of Bruges. His reign also experienced several outbreaks of the Black Death plague, which claimed one of his daughters.
