Itta of Schelde married Pepin I of Landen, son of Carolomannus. Itta of Schelde was born between 560 and 590 at Landen, Austrasia, France. She was the daughter of Arnoldus Margrave of Schelde and Oda. Itta of Schelde died on 8 May 652 at Abbey Nivelles, Brabant, Belgium.
On the advice of the missionary bishop Saint Amand, bishop of Maastricht, after Pepin's death, she founded the Benedictine nunnery at Nivelles, with a monastery under the abbess. She herself entered it and installed as abbess her daughter Gertrude, perhaps after resigning the post herself.1
