James Truscott was born on 18 February 1845 at Noyan, Missisiquoi Co, Quebec; James was obviously raised by his grandparents as his mother, Margaret, apparently, could not support him.1 He was the son of John Towle and Margaret Truscott. James Truscott was baptized on 3 April 1847 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; I feel I need to post the entire church record:
James Truscott, illegitimate child (said by the mother to be) son of John Tomel [last name illegible] school teacher at that time and of Margaret Truscott of the parish of Saint Thomas, was born on the eighteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-five and was baptized on this third day of April in the year A.D. one thousand eight hundred and forty-seven in the presence of the subscribing witnesses,
by me, Thomas Campbell, Minister
Witnesses: John B. Truscott; Jerusha Truscott, the parents of the above.1
