Margaret Truscott was born on 7 September 1826 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec. She was the daughter of John Bate Truscott and Sarah Struthers.
Although I have not come across her baptism as yet, it is likely that Margaret is a daughter of John Truscott and his first wife Sarah. Dated 3 Apr 1847, we find a baptism for James Truscott "illegitimate child (said by the mother to be) s/o John TOWEL school teacher at that time & Margaret TRUSCOTT parish of St Thomas, b. 18 Feb 1845". The witnesses were "John B. Truscott and Jerisha Truscott, parents of the above Margaret Truscott". Jerusha would be her step-mother.
Again, a baptism in Clarenceville Methodist records dated 27 May 1849, says Jennet Struthers, d/o Daniel Smith and Margaret Truscott (illegitimate), b. 16 Feb 1849.
