Lilly McCoy was born on 11 June 1743 at Cecil Co, Maryland. She was the daughter of John McCoy and Esther Beatty. Lilly McCoy married John Sharpe, son of Thomas Sharpe Jr and Elizabeth Gillespie. Lilly McCoy died in 1818 at Iredell Co, North Carolina.1 She was buried at Snow Creek Methodist Church Cemetery, Iredell Co, North Carolina.1
She left a will on 29 June 1818 at Iredell Co, North Carolina; Lilly left her wearing apparel to her daughters, Esther and Betsy, and her household and kitchen ware to her granddaughters, Louisa Guy and Sophia Hovater. It was interesting that she left a few specific items and indicated that they were to her Sophia directly, "and not to be in the power of Jacob Hovater for a moment nor any other person for him. " She mentions other bequests, along with a "salm book" to her son Silas. To her daughter Betsy, she gave her "negro Agg" for her use and that of her children. There were other gifts listed as I have not listed all.2
