Emily Caroline Tryon

     Emily Caroline Tryon was born on 1 July 1826 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ She was the daughter of Daniel Tryon and Mary Ann Longeway. Emily Caroline Tryon was baptized on 2 September 1827 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.¹ She married Enoch Wait, son of Briggs Wait and Mary Sheer/Shier, on 1 November 1843 at Alburgh, Grand Isle Co, Vermont.² Emily Caroline Tryon died on 9 May 1912 at Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec, at age 85.^3,4 She was buried on 12 May 1912 at Brown's Hill Cemetery, Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec.⁴
     She appeared on the census of 1881 at Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec; Emily Wait, 51, widowed, Alonzo, 32, William Sunbury, 40, and his wife Fanny, 24, Hiram Wait, 28, Briggs Wait, 22, Ellsworth Sunbury, 9, and Emeline Wait, 48. The family was Wesleyan Methodist.⁵ In 1891, Emily Tryon Wait was living with her son Briggs Wait and family at Stanstead, Quebec. She appeared on the census of 17 April 1891 in the household of Briggs Ephraim Wait; Briggs Wait, 34, b. Quebec, Methodist, wife Flora, 37, b. US, Emily, 64, mother, b. Quebec, widow, and brothers Alonzo, 41 and Hiram, 40, both b. Quebec.⁶
