     James Erastus Wait was born on 23 April 1852 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of Enoch Wait and Emily Caroline Tryon. James Erastus Wait was baptized on 7 February 1853 at Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 He married Emma May Jewell, daughter of Albert H. Jewell and Mary ? (?), on 27 April 1871 at Georgeville Congregational Church, Fitch Bay, Stanstead Co, Quebec.3 James Erastus Wait died on 18 October 1916 at Stanstead Co, Quebec, at age 64; James obituary appeared in The Stanstead Journal 26 Oct 1916: Jas Waite born Clarenceville, Apr 23, 1852 leaves his wife Emma May Jewell of Brown's Hill, his sons-D.C. and Archie - one brother B.E. Waite of Brown's Hill, one sister, Mrs. W.H. Sunbury of Lowell, Mass.4,1 He was buried at Brown's Hill Cemetery, Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec.1
     He appeared on the census of 1901 at Stanstead, Stanstead Co, Quebec; James Waite, 48, Emma M., 48, Archie, 21, and Albert Jewell, 81, widower. In the enumeration, son Adelbert, 23, was above him.5
