     Roland Levi Hughes was born on 23 November 1921 at Selma, Johnston Co, North Carolina.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 He was the son of Levi Jackson Hughes and Hepsy Delia Carter. Roland Levi Hughes married Nellie Parrish on 6 February 1942 at Franklin Co, North Carolina; Snce Roland had just enlisted two days prior, they, like many others in the 1940's were married.2 Roland Levi Hughes married Hazel Virginia Jarrell on 10 September 1946 at Johnston Co, North Carolina.2,9 Roland Levi Hughes married Nellie Parrish on 2 February 1949 at Norfolk, Virginia; They both had been divorced once.7 Roland Levi Hughes died on 9 September 1999 at Augusta, Richmond, Georgia, at age 77.1,6 He was buried at Augusta, Richmond Co, Georgia; Mr. Roland L. Hughes, 77, of 2910 Richmond Hill Road, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at his residence.

Burial with military honors and Masonic rites will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Hughes, a native of Selma, N.C., had retired from the Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and was a member and former master of Fleming Masonic Lodge 718. He also had retired from civil service. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Julian L. Hughes, Augusta, and Louis "Gene" Hughes, Bath; a sister, Ruth Smith, Greenville, N.C; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the military.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Fleming Masonic Lodge 718.1,6
     He appeared on the census of 1935 at Selma, Johnston Co, North Carolina.5 He appeared on the census of 1940 at Selma, Johnston Co, North Carolina.5 He lived in 1942 at Louisburg, Franklin Co, North Carolina.8 He enlisted in the military Although, his death file with Veterans Affairs indicates he enlisted 18 Oct 1942, discharged 11 Dec 1945. He reenlisted 19 Aug 1947 and was dischsrged 31 Jul 1964. on 4 February 1942 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.3,10
