Ebenezer Kelton

Ebenezer Kelton was born on 17 June 1774 at Warwick, Franklin Co, Massachusetts. He married Phoebe Salls, daughter of Jacob Salls and Margaret Taylor, on 13 August 1800 at St Gabriel's Presbyterian, Montreal, Montreal Co, Quebec; Ebenezer and Phebe were both of the parish of Laprairie and of age.1 Ebenezer Kelton died on 30 November 1813 at Vermont at age 39.2
He appeared on the census; In 1810, Ebenezer Kelton was living in Calais, Caledonia Co, Vermont. Records held within Kelton's pension file for the War of 1812 indicate he "in consequence" of sickness or disability incurred during his service.
He enlisted 15 Mar 1813 near Montpelier, and for 5 years. He served as a Private in Capt. Leavenworth's and Murdock's companies, 25th Regiment of the US Infantry. He was survived by his wife and two children, Delinda and Arden. The record shows he was married to Phebe 3 Aug 1801 in Laprairie.
Pension certificate #444 for five years half-pay was paid to his brother, Naum Kelton, guardian to Ebenezer's children. The pension began 17 Feb 1815 and ended 17 Feb 1820. The children were residents of Washington Co, Vermont at that time.
