     John Bate Truscott was born circa 1797. He married Sarah Struthers, daughter of James Struthers and Margaret Hogg, before 1826. John Bate Truscott married Jerusha Salls, daughter of Abraham Salls and Phebe Filer, on 26 March 1840 at St Armand, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; On 19 March 1840, John Bate Truscott of Noyan, joiner and carpenter, and Jerusha Salls, widow of the late John Howard, in his lifetime of Gananoque, Upper Canada, came before Pierre Gamelin, notary, for a Contract to their marriage. There was to be no communty property between them, and neither is responsible for the debts of the other. His witnesses were Robert Struthers, his brother in law and Miss Sarah Struthers, his niece. Jerusha had Alexander Struthers and Marian Salls, her brother in law and sister, and Margaret Struthers, her niece.1,2 John Bate Truscott died on 17 July 1879 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.3 He was buried on 19 July 1879 at St Thomas' Cemetery, Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.3
