John Francis Wood was born on 13 November 1882 at Stoneham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of Francis Augustus Wood and Sarah J. Brosnihan.1 John Francis Wood married Mary M. Conway, daughter of Thomas Conway and Catherine F. McCall, on 1 January 1908 at Stoneham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts.2,3 John Francis Wood died in April 1958 at Stoneham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, at age 75; John left his wife, Mary, and three sons, Wilfred, assistant superintendent of the Herald-Traveler composing room, F.A. Wood of Wakefield and John T. Wood of Melrose.
He was an employee of the Hearst Newspapers in Boston for 22 years until his retirement in 1947. He died in a Stoneham rest home after a brief illness.4,5 He was buried on 17 April 1958 at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; A requiem mass was held at St Patrick's Church in Stoneham.4,5
On 12 September 1918, John Francis Wood was a newspaper man. His hair was black and eyes were hazel.6 He appeared on the census of 14 April 1930 at Stoneham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; John T. Wood, 47, Mary, 46, Frank A., 21, Wildred, 19 and John T., 15.7 He appeared on the census of 29 April 1940 at 54 Pond Street, Stoneham, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; John F. Wood, 57, Mary M., 56, Wilfred, 29 and John T., 25. John was a newspaper circulator.8
