Daniel Curtis

     Daniel Curtis was born circa 1797; gravestone. He was the son of Solomon Curtis and Hannah Taylor. Daniel Curtis married Rebecca Salls, daughter of John Salls and Sarah Crawford, on 13 August 1821 at St George's Anglican Church, Clarenceville, Missisquoi Co, Quebec; Witnesses were his father, Solomon Curtis and her mother, Sarah Salls, aong with Benjamin Salls. I assume Benjamin Ernest Salls stood in as uncle, since her father was deceased.¹ Daniel Curtis died on 18 January 1869 at Stockholm, St Lawrence Co, New York.² He was buried at Brookdale Cemetery, Lot 192, Section C, Row 8, Brookdale, St Lawrence Co, New York.²
     He appeared on the census of 16 July 1860 at Stockholm, St Lawrence Co, New York; Daniel Curtis, 60, Rebecca, 57, both b. Canada, Benjamin, 17, Gardner, 13, b. NY, as well as David Drake, 17, and Daniel Grandy, 9. On one side was the family of Benjamin and Hannah Tryon, and the other John and Nancy Curtis.³
