     Darius B. Stranahan married Sarah J. Lewis.1 Darius B. Stranahan was born in May 1827 at Canaan, Columbia Co, New York.1 He was the son of William Stranahan and Margaret Salls. Darius B. Stranahan married Emily J. Cobb in 1868 at New York.1,2 Darius B. Stranahan died on 18 October 1901 at Clintonville, Clinton Co, New York, at age 74; After completing studies in Troy, he taught in his hometown, but moved to where his brother, Charles, lived and lived there 40 years. He was a school teacher in both Essex and Clinton Counties. The past 36 years he was in the employ of E. Feitt, and well known as school trustee, justice of the peace and notary. He was very well-respected. He was sick only a few days, and when he complained to his wife about pain in his lungs, she applied warm applications and he was relieved. He said he was thirsty and she went to the kitchen. "When aid came we found the vital spark had fled and he was in the land where the inhabitants never say 'I'm thirsty'."1,3 He was buried on 20 October 1901 at New York; Darius was buried with his first wife in the old cemetery.1
     He appeared on the census of 1880 at Ausable, Clinton Co, New York; D.B. Stranahan, 53, wife Emily, 42 and son, Whitney, 8.2
