     William Stranahan was born circa 1782 at New York.2,3 He married Margaret Salls, daughter of Samuel Salls and Rachel (?), between 1801 and 1803 at Columbia Co, New York.1 William Stranahan died on 9 April 1856 at Canaan, Columbia Co, New York.4 He was buried at East Chatham Cemetery (now Cemetery of the Maples), Canaan, Columbia Co, New York.2
     He appeared on the census of 20 August 1850 at Canaan, Columbia Co, New York; William Stranahan, 68, wife Margaret, 64, Geo W., 25, Lafayette, 25 and Abby, 22.3
